All amino acids are necessary for the body to maintain its normal function. Amino acids are categorized as essential and non-essential. Essential amino acids are not produced in the body so they must be obtained from food intake. The body can produce the non-essential amino acid.

  • Alanine – a nonessential amino acid that enhances the immune system, lowers the risk of kidney stones, and aids in alleviating hypoglycemia by regulating sugar.
  • Arginine – an essential amino acid that increases sperm count in men, accelerates wound healing, tones muscle tissue, helps metabolize stored body fat, and promotes physical and mental alertness. Arginine is also important in estrogen production, and a deficiency may contribute to an estrogen deficiency.
  • Carnitine – is a non-essential amino acid, but its deficiency can cause fatigue, muscle weakness, heart disease, acidic blood, high triglyceride levels, and brain degeneration. In addition carnitine taken as a supplement can help enhance the body’s ability to burn fat, prevent heart disease, and minimize brain deterioration.
  • Cystine and Cysteine– an essential amino acid which is an important anti-aging nutrient. Cysteine’s most important role in the body is detoxification.
  • Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid – this helps to optimize the body’s use of vitamin C. It can also lower blood pressure, and it may be involved with the release of growth hormone.
